Gem Protectors started on the card show floor.
I'm Rachel Polakoff, and I buy and sell sports cards full time through Semi Sports Cards. That means a lot of flights, a lot of convention halls, and a lot of time behind a table talking with collectors. Everywhere I went, I heard the same thing: people wanted to protect their graded cards and show them off, but the cases on the market were overpriced. Collectors were paying $25 to $30 for a basic black case because there wasn't much else to choose from.
That didn't sit right with us, so we decided to make something better.

Matt has loved sports for as long as he can remember, but collecting came later, after we met. Fittingly, we met at a Miami Dolphins tailgate, and our first date was a Florida Panthers game. We're both die-hard fans and season ticket holders.
By day, Matt is an accountant, so numbers are his thing. Once he got into the hobby, he saw what I'd been seeing at shows: collectors want good cases, and they want them at a fair price. Making that happen is what Gem Protectors is all about.
